What if Metropolis: Figuring out a new composition

I've been having trouble figuring out a new composition for my city and decided to use Maya to create a rough scene and play with the camera. (Please excuse the extreme blocked out shapes!)

I'm quite liking 1, 5, 6 & 9. Any advice would be helpful!

  1. I don't think it's any of these yet, Kayleigh - I think you need to think about the strengths of your original concept art - that sort of flat/empty feeling and keep it - the issue was ensuring you had a bigger scale/greater sense of the built environment going on - try using this technique in terms of block out, but perhaps avoid the dramatic low angles; if you look at Ernst's favour compositions, they're sort of 'mid-distance' and 'straight on' - it this that creates some of the strangeness - just as Kubrick creates tension by keeping the camera level and 'flat'.
