Character: Environment

Here's the city environment. I didn't think the flat colours did it justice so I tried something that would work with the colouring I'm attempting with my characters. I might still go back into this and work over it yet but for now I think it shows what I want.

Character: Logos

I spent some time starting to consider logos and branding.

I considered the games title logo and it's possible text and shapes.

My favourite text was 5.

1
2

3
4
5
6
Using text 5 I tried to consider the rough shape of the logo. I think the text within fishes could be smaller but I quite like 3, 4 and 5. I think 3 could maybe be turned into a fishcan?

I also did some logo work for the resistance symbol. I'm thinking of working into 7 as it represents the animals and shows the anger from the resistance.

Character: Character sketches

Here are some of the sketches produced for my characters. I will refine and work with these in photoshop.

The "Codfather"
In terms of these sketches I feel that 3 or 5 captures best what I was trying to portray in terms of a mafia boss.

 Fox Protagonist
I'm struggling in terms of interesting clothes with my protagonists but this is something I will look more into while refining characters. I'm liking the shape of 1 but I feel he should be a little more muscular like 4.

Raccoon Protagonist
I think my closest representation of my character here is 4. I think some of the shape could be improved but I like her hood and jacket.

I also need to make sure all these characters look like these fit in the same world, I think some changes to the Fox protagonist would help him look more coherent with my Raccoon.

Character Workshop: 27/10/15

In todays character lesson we focused on environments for characters.

Our first task was to design a building for a video game character. I got given a 'Lady of the Night' from Fable 2.

After looking at my first design Justin suggested to try out some more feminine and circular shapes.

We then got given the task to design a place with a certain atmosphere. Mine was 'Hazardous Arena'.

Character Workshop: 20/10/15

In this weeks character lesson we were put into a group of 3 and given a video game scenario.

"1950s America is suddenly invaded by a host of B-Movie creatures, as cinematic monstrosities escape from their celluloid worlds. Characters will be drawn from the archetypes of B-Movie films from the 1950s, either the plucky heroes, or the monstrous creations."

I decided to design a possible damsel on distress/love interest stereotypical character found in those movies. The 50's reminded me of diners and I based her off a 1950's waitress.
