Following Phil's advice I changed around the composition of number 7 from my last page. I made the clock less central and made the rock at the front smaller. I also wanted to test which colours derived from Ernst's work would fit best for my city.
Composition wise I like 1 best. I feel like keeping most of the middle third empty gives a feeling of absence to my city much like some of Ernst's paintings. I also like the colour of 1 best though I could possibly add some red and orange to help balance out how green it is.
number one seems to work the best, in terms of structure and colour they all look like they belong in the landscape.
ReplyDeleteComposition wise, I feel that 1 and 3 give a sense of isolation and desert plane. Personally, 1 is working rather nicely, and I reckon it could be pushed further by introducing maybe one or two more colours :)
ReplyDelete1 and 4 seem to be my favourite ones the colours work well !
ReplyDeleteI think 2 an 4 both look good :) quite eerie and mysterious
ReplyDelete1 and 3 look pretty cool. I mean in terms of composition 1 probably looks better :)
ReplyDeleteI like the colour comp in 1 best but I think the sky in 3 and 4 works better and I really like all the shadowy background shapes you have created in 4, they add a very different sense of space to your city!
ReplyDeleteI like the colours and the eeriness of number 2, but number 3 grabs me as well. But I like number 4 too, aarrgh!! I can see your frustration. I think in terms of a complete city, maybe number 4 as it seems to have a mixture of some of the elements of both in it. I think I like the shapes and textures of number 4 best too. :)
ReplyDeleteI would personally have to say number 3 because it feels isolated and empty as well as being a complete city with the background shapes in it. Combining that element with the 1st image would make a strong composition I believe
